Install the Amazon Prime Video App

First, you need to download the Amazon Underground app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Next, if you’re using an Android phone or tablet, you need to go into your phone or tablet’s security settings and check the box to allow installing from Unknown Sources. Don’t worry – you can (and should) go back and disable this right after you finish installing the Amazon Prime Video app.

Launch the Amazon Underground app and login to your account.

Search for Amazon Prime Video. Touch Amazon Prime Video from the search results, then touch Install, and follow the prompts to complete the installation.

Once Amazon Prime Video finishes installing, you’re ready to start downloading.

You’ll need to connect your device to WiFi before downloading. I recommend installing a microSD card if your device supports one, to give you more storage for downloaded videos.

Launch the Amazon Prime Video app. Browse or search for videos that interest you.

If a video allows downloading, you’ll see a Download option when you view the item’s details. Touch Download, and if you have an SD card installed, you’ll see an option to choose whether to download to your SD card or internal storage.

Next, you’ll get to pick the quality of the video you download. If your device is short on storage space, you’ll want to choose one of the lower-quality options. If you’ve got a decently sized SD card or a lot of internal storage, you can select the Better or Best option.

Availability and Viewing Periods

You can only download certain video titles, and the amount of time you have to view downloaded material can vary depending on the material. In most cases, you’ll have 30 days to begin watching a title you’ve downloaded, then 48 hours to finish watching it.

You should see a notification on-screen when one of your downloads is about to expire.

You’ll also see a message if you’ve downloaded the maximum number of Prime titles across all devices on your account. This is generally 15 or 25 titles, depending on your location.

Not all Prime videos are available to download. However, if you can’t download it for free, you may be able to rent or purchase the video and then download it, if you want.
